Music & Dance Classes in CR Park
Music schools, Rabindrasangeet and classical vocal teachers, and dance academies in CR Park, plus what to check before you enrol a child.
Music and dance lessons are part of growing up in CR Park. Most families find a teacher through the Kali Bari, the puja committees or a neighbour, and a growing number of institutes on the main roads now teach Rabindrasangeet, Hindustani vocal, tabla, Kathak and Bharatanatyam alongside keyboard, guitar and drums.
What to check before hiring
- ✓ Ask for a trial class, and sit in on it if your child is young. Most CR Park institutes offer one or more free.
- ✓ Find out who actually teaches the batch. An institute's founder or best-known guru may not take the class you are paying for.
- ✓ If you want certificates, ask which exam body the school prepares students for (e.g. Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Bhatkhande, Trinity, ABRSM) and whether exam fees are extra.
- ✓ Check batch size and whether practice instruments are available at the institute, especially for tabla, harmonium and keyboard beginners.
- ✓ Durga Puja, Bijoya Sammilani and Rabindra Jayanti programmes are a good chance to hear a school's students perform before you enrol.
